Gangguan Harbor & Geobukseon·Joseon warships

The seashore off Jungang-dong and Hangnam-dong has been called gangguan, where the river flows into the sea.
The seashore was part of the naval Harbor of Tongjeyeong but the tideland and the waters of gangguan were reclaimed during the Japanese colonial period according to historic records.
In the Tongjeyeong period, the 1,346-m-circumference gangguan served as a perfect natural fortification protecting against intruders from the sea. gangguan, the starting point of the south sea route in the olden days, is now called Tongyeonghang Harbor.
Nearby are exhibits of warships from the Joseon era, including the Geobukseon (turtle ship) of Jeolla Jwasuyeong, the Geobukseon of Tongjeyeong, the Geobukseon of Hangang, and the Panokseon ship.
