The Tongyeong City Museum is located at the site of the former Tongyeong County Office.
Spanning an area 4,790 square meters wide, the museum building has a total area of 1,692 square meters, including one basement level and two above-ground levels.
The basement is used for storage, while the first floor houses the Special Exhibition Gallery, and the second is for the History Gallery and the Folk Gallery.
The museum has on exhibit various articles related to the history and culture of Tongyeong, including relics from the Neolithic Era and the Bronze Age, ironware from the Three Kingdom Period, sangpyeong tongbo coins excavated from Tongjeyeong and the site of the 12 workshops, as well as numerous donated relics including items produced by master craftsmen in the Tongjeyeong era—world-renowned Tongyeong mother-of-pearl lacquer ware, Tongyeong jangseok (ornamental metal fittings), Tongyeong soban (wooden tray table), and Tongyeong gat (hat)—and paintings and ceramics in that era.
