Tongyeong Sebyeonggwan Hal

Tongyeong Sebyeonggwan is a landmark of Navy Headquarters of Three Provinces, Tongyeong.
Its construction was completed in 1605 (the 38th year of King Seonjo’s reign of the Joseon Dynasty), two years later Yi Gyeong-jun, the 6th commander-in-chief of the naval forces, moved the naval base from Duryongpo to Tongyeong.
For about 290 years since it was built, Tongyeong Sebyeonggwan served as the central command for the naval forces of three provinces (Gyeongsang, Jeolla, Chungcheong).
Though it underwent multiple renovations, the provincial government building still boasts a powerful presence overseeing the southern sea at a distance. Its name is derived from the last two syllables of the expression "Manhasebyeong," which means "washing weapons in the stream of the Milky Way."
