Mt. Maebongsan

Mt. Maebongsan is located in the northwest of Tongyeong and is as high as 311m above sea level. It has a 5-km mountainclimbing course that ranges from Yuchon or Dosan Art Village to Mt. Bonghwasan, Mt. Maebongsan and Beomgolgogae Pass (Beomgol Water Reservoir). It is blessed with the picture-like coastline that unfolds during mountain climbing and a beautiful landscape created with dotted islands. The Dongchon Beacon Tower Site located on the ridge of Mt. Bonghwasan is said to have corresponded with a signal fire in Hail-myeon, Goseong-gun and that in Mt. Mireuksan. As a stone tower still remains, people can still appreciate the vestiges today.
